New Alloy: Inconel® 617 is now available from Alloy Wire. Learn about Inconel® 617
Alloy Wire International is proud to announce that it is officially a carbon negative business, after the company pledged to offset more carbon emissions than it produced, furthering its sustainability efforts of the previous year.
Following the announcement that the company had become carbon neutral last year after partnering with Carbon Neutral Britain, AWI has now offset around 527.74 tonnes of carbon, which is more emissions than have been generated by the business. This means all manufacturing, deliveries and even employee commuting emissions have been offset.
Alloy Wire International was careful to partner with an organisation that provided 100% verified carbon credits and full transparency, with every process regulated, verified and third party audited. The emissions were calculated using the ISO 14064 and GHG Protocol Emissions Standard principles of relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency and accuracy. These emissions were then offset after the company invested in worldwide projects held in conjunction with Carbon Neutral Britain.
The main focus for these projects is reforestation as planting and protecting trees is one of the most sustainable ways to offset carbon. Forest projects absorb CO2 and refract the earth’s heat, while also having a positive impact on wildlife, ecology and biodiversity. They also support projects in the developing world that help provide education, employment, clean water, energy and a positive impact on the local wildlife and ecology.
Mark Venables, Managing Director at Alloy Wire International said: “We are happy to say that our partnership with Carbon Neutral Britain, that started last year, was just the beginning. As we continue to contribute to projects around the world, we have taken steps to further our efforts and become carbon negative. As a manufacturer, this is an excellent achievement and we are proud to be contributing to a greener future and our own sustainability targets.”
