Duplex stainless steels are magnetic and are far more corrosion resistant than more commonly used stainless grades, i.e. 302 and 316. Super Duplex combines aspects of both austenitic and ferritic grades, and is known for its excellent corrosion resistance and high strength. Super Duplex is also known as Alloy 32750 and SAF 2507.
Duplex stainless steels are magnetic and are far more corrosion resistant than more commonly used stainless grades, i.e. 302 and 316. Duplex is characterised by its high yield strength, as well as good fatigue strength and excellent corrosion resistance. Duplex is also known as Duplex 2205 and Cronifer 2205 LCN.
This Nickel-Copper alloy is precipitation hardenable, due to the additions of Aluminium and Titanium. It combines the corrosion resistance of Monel 400 but gives the added advantage of extra strength and hardness (as a result of its age hardening ability). Monel® K-500 provides corrosion resistance in several marine and chemical applications. Monel® K-500 is also known as Nicorros Al.
A Nickel-Copper alloy with high strength and excellent corrosion resistance in a range of acidic and alkaline environments and suitable for reducing conditions. It also has good ductility and thermal conductivity. Used in a variety of applications, Monel® 400 has excellent resistance to seawater, and can also be used in hydrochloric and hydrofluoric acids. Monel® 400 is also known as Phyweld 400 and Nicorros LC.
MP35N is an age hardenable Nickel-Cobalt base alloy that has a unique combination of properties – ultra high strength, toughness, ductility and outstanding corrosion resistance. MP35N resists corrosion in hydrogen sulphide, salt water and other chloride solutions. It also has excellent resistance to crevice and stress corrosion cracking in sea water and other hostile environments. The four alloy elements in MP35N are the basis for corrosion resistance in almost every Stainless Steel, Nickel and Cobalt-based alloy commonly used in the industry. The alloy resists corrosion in hydrogen sulphide, salt water and other Chloride solutions, as well as the mineral acids (Nitric, Hydrochloric and Sulphuric). MP35N is suitable where a high combination of strength, high modulus values and good corrosion resistance are required. Applications for this alloy also include medical devices and dental products.
This Cobalt-Chromium-Nickel alloy gives a combination of high strength, ductility and good mechanical properties and is age hardenable. Phynox† also has excellent fatigue life, corrosion resistance in numerous environments and is non-magnetic. Phynox† often provides the ideal solution whenever high mechanical performance is required under severely corrosive service conditions. Its mechanical strength increases with cold rolling strain, while additional strengthening can be achieved by age hardening at 520°C. It is recommended to use Phynox† where a high resistance to corrosion and / or low relaxation at temperatures up to 380°C (715°F) are required. This alloy is used in medical devices, dental products, surgical implants and orthopedics. Phynox† is also known as Elgiloy, Conichrome and Alloy 3J21.
This Nickel-Molybdenum-Chromium alloy with the addition of Tungsten, has excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of corrosive media and is especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. Hastelloy C-276 is considered to be the most versatile corrosion resistant alloy available, as it is resistant to the formation of grain boundary precipitates in the weld heat-affected zone; this makes it ideal for most chemical process applications in an as welded condition. Hastelloy C-276 also has exceptional resistance to pitting, stress-corrosion cracking and oxidizing atmospheres, as well as excellent resistance to multiple different chemical environments. Hastelloy C-276 is also known as Nicrofer 5716, Superimphy 276, and Inconel C-276.
A Nickel-Chromium-Molybdenum alloy with excellent corrosion resistance in a wide range of corrosive media, being especially resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion. Inconel® 625 provides resistance to stress corrosion cracking to chloride ions, making it a favourable choice for sea water applications. The alloy also provides commendable oxidation resistance, with its high strength a result of the stiffening combination of Molybdenum and Niobium on the alloy’s Nickel-Chromium base.
